capSpire Highlights Opportunities for Niche Energy-Industry Careers to Irish Graduates

It’s one of the most common questions that college students and recent graduates ask us: What is capSpire all about, and what is it like to join the team? This is the first in a series of articles that will provide insight into the life of a recent graduate and new hire at capSpire.

Over the last several months, representatives from capSpire have participated in recruitment events in Ireland—including The Graduate Jobs and Internship Fair at University College Cork (UCC) and GradLive in the RDS venue in Dublin—to engage with young people over these questions. These events attracted more than 4,000 students, recent graduates, and young job seekers from a variety of backgrounds.

Participating in recruitment events gives capSpire an opportunity to spread awareness of the specialised, niche industry in which we work and the unique career opportunities available with us. Many students and recent graduates aren’t aware of local career opportunities that combine technology consulting and working in the dynamic energy industry. This intrigued many attendees, who wanted to gain more insight into this growing industry they had never heard of before. When we can raise awareness of what we do and help young talent identify an exciting career prospect, these events are a win-win,” says Clare Annis, Human Resources Business Partner at capSpire.

Following the heightened interest for our industry and company that was generated during these events, representatives from capSpire will continue to engage with academic institutions, and will attend future campus events and presentations to seek outstanding prospective candidates to join the company.

So who exactly is capSpire looking for to fill roles in the commodity-based technology consulting and data analytics space? There is no specific degree needed to join the capSpire team. Instead, our consultants come from a variety of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) backgrounds. Some have bachelor’s degrees while others have earned master’s degrees. At capSpire, we want to find the best problem solvers and brightest minds. We believe the strongest, most effective teams incorporate diverse perspectives and analyse problems from different angles. Candidates must also enjoy working collaboratively in teams with colleagues and clients, and should be willing to travel globally to serve some of the world’s leading energy companies.

Cork, Ireland, an ever-expanding technology hub, is home to capSpire’s European headquarters. In addition to opportunities in technology consulting, capSpire has recently expanded its data-analytics practice into Europe from this location. In addition to Cork, capSpire services clients across the globe from five strategically located offices in the U.K. and U.S.

Alongside the opportunity to work in an interesting and evolving field, another big attraction to capSpire among recruits is the unique workplace culture. There is a reason why capSpire keeps winning the prestigious When Work Works Award each year. Our company has a flat structure and collaborative, team-based atmosphere, which provide each employee with exposure to all aspects of a project—even high-profile projects—and easy access to leadership. We also provide abundant development opportunities, give employees the autonomy they need to be most effective, and offer a competitive benefits package. In short, we set our people up for success and want to develop them into being the best they can be, no matter their individual career path.
“On joining capSpire, the thing that immediately struck me was the culture. The capSpire consultant genuinely cares about delivering a quality product that, at a minimum, meets client requirements and, wherever possible, exceeds their expectations. This isn’t just the usual corporate speak. It is an outlook, or worldview, that is ingrained throughout the company. That, in combination with a collegial, knowledge-sharing environment, ensures that capSpire is a great place to work,” says Joseph Collins, a recent capSpire hire and graduate of UCC with a Master of Science in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing.
